Avanti
- The Annual Avanti Awards are the premier awards for both broadcast and non-broadcast
media in South Africa.
From
1994 to 2000, Desireé conceptualised, produced and staged the annual National
Television Avanti Awards. When Desiree was co-opted onto this event in 1994 it
was an intimate lunch function at the Rosebank Hotel with an audience of 200 people.
Under
Desireé's guidance and vision, this event became the premiere television
awards event broadcast on SABC 2 and 3, with entries from SABC, M-NET and ETV
as well as all independently produced South African material, and in April 2000
the event was staged at Helderfontein Estate to a live audience of over 1500 people.
Desireé
and her team were solely responsible for conceptualising, creating, producing

and scripting of presenters, through to raising all the funding and sponsorship
for the event, all this was part of the overall project and the success of the
event over the years.
